New project will demonstrate district heating and smart energy in 3 European cities
A new 5-year project will receive 28 million euro from Horizon 2020, EU’s research programme, to demonstrate smart zero carbon technologies in cities in Spain, Estonia and Denmark.
The three cities of Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain, Tartu in Estonia and Sønderborg in Denmark will implement different initiatives within building retrofitting, integrated infrastructures (i.e. District Heating), sustainable mobility and ICT, which make sense in their local level.
Heads of 4DH on Highly Cited Researchers list
The management of 4DH is well represented on the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers 2015.
The list, showing particularly influential names in different research fields, features both Head of 4DH Henrik Lund and newcomer on the list, Deputy Head Brian Vad Mathiesen.
COP21: This is how we can reach 1.5 degrees
At the COP21 in Paris early December where nearly 200 countries agreed to pursue a global warming temperature of ideally 1.5 degrees celcius, 4DH Deputy Head and Professor in Energy Planning Brian Vad Mathiesen was present with a part of the solution to the challenge.
At the COP21 side event “Technology solutions for a 2°C world”, Brian Vad Mathiesen presented the solutions from IDA’s Energy Vision 2050 made for The Danish Society of Engineers, IDA.
Coming EU Strategy on Heating and Cooling in line with 4DH research
The European Commission’s coming strategy on heating and cooling will be focused on renewable energy and district heating, much in line with the recommendations from 4DH research, for example the Heat Roadmap Europe studies.
In a series of ‘issue papers’ used in the preparation for the strategy, the Commission states that the use of renewables in heating should be boosted with tax measures, public procurement and public investment to stimulate the development of markets.
4DH meets with Vice President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič
Yesterday, Deputy Head of 4DH and Professor in Energy Planning Brian Vad Mathiesen met with EU Commission Vice President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič during his visit to Copenhagen as part of his "Energy Union Tour", where he stopped by IDA, The Danish Society of Engineers.
