Heat pumps are now a feasible technology

On September 12th, the 4DH Centre and Green Energy held a workshop on large heat pumps in the district energy system. The workshop illustrated the pivotal point that large heat pumps can compete with even the cheapest fuels - even when taxes are added. Experiences from Denmark and other countries demonstrate that heat pumps represent a tested technology and a competitive alternative.

When installing large heat pumps, one of the most important aspects to consider are the local conditions, as these may determine which of the numerous solutions is the right one for a specific heat plant. Often, a simple standard solution yields the same results as a complicated one.

During the day, ideas for heat pump projects where gathered. These ideas will be used as inspiration for an application to the Danish research programme EUDP.
