New video: Smart Heating Systems save money and CO2

The hypothesis was that storage will be a necessity in future energy systems, which to an even higher degree are based on fluctuating renewable energy sources.

Heat supply is developing in the same direction through the use of solar collectors and, e.g., wind-power-driven heat pumps. As a consequence, more system flexibility is required in the form of storage systems.

This project developed methodologies of analysis and investigates the means of adding system flexibility through geothermal storage for steam and hot water as well as other storage options. Steam storages for waste incineration plants means electricity production may be temporarily detached from waste incineration and heat storages for more conventional temperatures will play an even more significant role in the future.
